I joined Ambitious Group in 2020
After finishing a Sports Science BTEC I started as a Trainee Sales Negotiator for an Independent Estate Agent in North Leeds in 2009! Shortly after I moved to a corporate Estate Agent where I worked from a Sales Negotiator position up to a Senior Branch Manager over an eight-year period. I also spent some time at the back end of my estate career with a local independent agent and also in a self-employed model, I really have covered all bases!
In 2019 I decided to step away from Estate Agency and turned to recruitment in the property sector!
Joining Ambitious Group was an easy decision for me following my interview with the MD! The people we work with are such an important consideration and the honesty and passion displayed by them was something I had not experienced before. They also presented me with structured career progression and finally, as I know the property sector so well it was an exciting prospect to be recruiting for the industry.
Fun, rewarding, progressive
As a Managing Consultant, the first part of my day is all about catching up with the team and reviewing what we are all doing, helping with any new or difficult situations and offering advice and assistance where I can.
I also bill! So the rest of my day is a mix of client meetings, candidate interviews and coaching my team.
I love recruitment because I love working at pace and this certainly keeps me busy! It was actually my seven year old Nephew who helped me look at recruitment in a completely different way, “Uncle Matt, you help people get new jobs which help their families” firstly for a seven year old this is very insightful but also so true! Recruitment can be very transactional from our side, but we must remember we are helping people enhance their lives in whatever way is suitable for them!
I have always loved property, ever since I can remember! I was going to be a surveyor but education/classroom learning wasn’t for me so I pursued a job in Estate Agency! The property sector is an ever changing industry which will always be needed, so I love it because it will provide me with a living for my entire career!
My dad is one of my main role models! From as early as I remember he installed a competitive nature in me which makes me Ambitious in life. I have a mentality that I can always do better and be better.
